It appears the delay has occurred due to global supply chain shortages, which is causing issues for many compnaies not only Valve. The company said in the email sent out:
“we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.”
All customers who had reserved a Steam Deck will have their reservation estimate pushed back by two months.
